As was tweeted days ago during his “Rock Talk” Twitter Q&A session, The Rock has confirmed that he will not have any role at WrestleMania XXX this year. He did, however, leave the door open for WrestleMania 31. Rock tweeted of the original plans for him had he worked this years Mania:
“Between Vince, Brock and myself, our WrestleMania 30 plan was Rock vs. Brock. No plans now for 30 but possibly WM 31.”
In today’s issue of the Wrestling Observer, Dave Meltzer speculates that The Rock wouldn’t have mentioned working WrestleMania 31 unless he knew that it was realistic. Furthermore, he drops a tidbit that will surely make the Internet wrestling fans go crazy — that The Rock has privately told people that he’d be fine with putting John Cena over in his final wrestling match. Meltzer stated:
“My feeling is he wouldn’t have mentioned 31 if he had it in his head that he was fully retired from wrestling. Privately, he has suggested that putting over Cena would be a fine way to go out, in his mind, but has never talked of not wrestling as an absolute, just something he was considering.”
This could be taken one of two ways. One, The Rock is officially done with wrestling since he put Cena over in their most recent match. Second, and most likely, since The Rock hinted at working WrestleMania 31, he’d be fine with putting John Cena in the rubber match of their recent feud before he calls it quits for good.
Surely the Internet fans would love that second scenario.
