Philadelphia, PA & Santa Clara, CA Officially The Two Finalists to Host WrestleMania 31 in 2015

As we first reported over a month ago, Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field and the new Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California (future home of the San Francisco 49ers) were the top two leading candidates to host WrestleMania 31 in 2015.  The other cities in contention were Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field, Foxboro’s Gillette Stadium, and Washington DC’s FedEx Field.

A new report by the San Jose Mercury News cites sources within WWE that the race is now down to just two cities – Philadelphia, PA and Santa Clara, CA.  You can read their report: here.

The report also mentions that Santa Clara city officials were flying to WWE headquarters next week to make their official pitch.

Philadelphia news station, 6ABC, went directly to the WWE for confirmation of our original report and the WWE issued the following statement:

Philadelphia is one of the many cities that has expressed an interest in hosting a future WrestleMania. An announcement regarding WrestleMania 31 will be made early next year.

The decision on the host of WrestleMania 31 is not expected until early 2014.
