Konnan discusses CMLL replacing Sin Cara when he left for WWE

0

AAA matchmaker Konnan joined Mister Saint Laurent on this week’s episode of MLW Radio, available right now at MLW.com. He spoke about CMLL’s decision to introduce a new Mistico to replace WWE’s Sin Cara.

“Everyone knows who he is,” said Konnen. “It’s a guy called Dragon Lee. He’s a young high flyer who is actually very good and does some really wild [stuff], but isn’t as polished as Mistico and he’s not very well liked even though he’s a face in CMLL. One of the reasons is because Mexico City mostly likes heels. Mostly everyone gets booed in Arena Mexico that are babyfaces. He’s already getting booed and usually guys, whether it’s the guy who took over the Psicosis gimmick or the guy that took over the La Parka gimmick, at the beginning they get a lot of heat from the people because they know they’re not the original and people shout [stuff] at them.

“Usually guys that were clones weren’t as good as the original guys and this guy isn’t going to be the exception. I think that it’s CMLL being desperate because nothing they’re doing right now is really drawing. They don’t really have any real big stars. They have a lot of good young wrestlers and some good veteran wrestlers, but they don’t have those stars where you can bring them to a TV station and ask them to do an interview.”

Konnan reveals details of Rey Mysterio’s WWE suspension

0

On this week’s edition of MLW’s Konnan Show, Konnan spoke about Rey Mysterio’s recent suspension for violating WWE’s wellness policy:

“Rey Mysterio, I can guarantee you categorically, he doesn’t do any drugs. He’s a guy that really lives up to his role model image. He’s got two little kids that he really wants to be an example for. He’s even told me, ‘Dude, please do not come to my house high.’ He really wants to be a good role model. He’s not on the juice or anything.

What can Rey really be on? It can’t be the juice and he definitely doesn’t do any hard drugs. He was taking a dietary supplement because he has a problem with his love handles. It was something that would burn fat and I think just like anything that’s fat burning it probably had some sort of amphetamine in it. So that’s where we’re at right now. He’s actually still going back and forth with WWE on that.

It kind of pisses me off because they know who is on what and they’ve given other guys passes. I won’t get into names or details because Rey will catch heat, but this is my opinion. They know he’s not on anything.”

Konnan also revealed that WWE plans to extend the expiration date of Mysterio’s contract to make up for time lost due to injury. MLW’s Konnan Show with Konnan is available on MLW.com, iTunes and syndicated by Stitcher.com.

Ultimate Warrior Says Him & British Bulldog Were Incorrectly Fired For Steroids in 1992

0

The Ultimate Warrior spoke about Vince McMahon firing him and the British Bulldog during the federal steroid investigation in a recenter interview on MLW.com. Warrior claimed they were fired for drug test failures that never actually occurred.

“Vince was feeling the heat from the federal investigation in what ultimately became an indictment over the steroid thing,” said Warrior. “It’s another one of those instances where he did what he had to do to protect his foremost interest, which was himself and his business. He made the claim that me and Davey Boy, Davey Boy got let go at the same time, that we had violated the drug policy at the time, which wasn’t true.”

“We deposed Dr. Di Pasquale, who was in charge [of the drug policy]. We went to Canada and deposed him as part of the litigation and he said it wasn’t true. He was the guy that had the absolute authority in the program to decide who should be let go or if there was a different way of evaluating something. If they saw something on a wellness program test or something, it was up to him. He said he was totally shocked and surprised when Vince let me go and fired me. He never got a reason.”

Part 2 of The Ultimate Warrior on MLW Radio with Mister Saint Laurent will be available this Thursday on MLW.com.
