The last word we heard was that Neidhart was waiting to be released from jail into the rehab program. Neidhart appears to be doing much better now as his daughter, WWE Diva Natalya, spent yesterday hanging out with him. Natalya posted photos of the two together and noted that they were in the gym training:

Wrestling legend Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart remains in the Hillsborough County Jail today after being arrested for contempt of court yesterday. It appears Neidhart was arrested for contempt while he was in court to answer previous charges.

Neidhart doesn’t have any bond set yet or a release date. While this is not confirmed yet, the Hillsborough County Sheriff website indicates that Judge Espinosa sentenced Neidhart to 5 months and 29 days for the First Degree Theft and Possession of Controlled Substance charges. No word yet if the jail sentence was suspended or if Neidhart must do the full 5 months and 29 days. We hope to have an official update soon.

This past weekend’s episode WWE Vintage Collection (shown on Sky Sports in the U.K.) was the second of a two part look at WCW’s Fall Brawl pay-per-view. The matches that aired were Diamond Dallas Page vs. Chavo Guerrero (1996), Brian Knobbs, Jerry Sags, Dusty Rhodes and Dustin Rhodes vs. Terry Funk, Arn Anderson, Bunkhouse Buck and Col. Robert Parker in a WarGames match (1994), and “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith and Jim Neidhart vs. Alex Wright and Disco Inferno (1998).

Smith’s match would be his last for WCW. While taking a bump, Smith landed awkwardly on a trapdoor that had been set in the ring to enable Ultimate Warrior to make a dramatic entrance in the evening’s main event. The result was a spinal infection that nearly paralyzed Smith, hospitalizing him for six months. While recuperating, Smith received a FedEx informing him that his contract had been terminated.

Jimmy Hart Discusses Returning at WWE Summerslam, Calls One Talent the “James Dean of Wrestling”

Right After Wrestling with Jimmy Hart
Hosts: Arda Ocal (@arda_ocal) and Jimmy Korderas (@jimmykorderas)
Available at TheScore.com or via Itunes.

Jimmy’s recent projects in relation to the WWE – appearing at SummerSlam this past August with R-Truth: ”Well I did WrestleMania this past year in Atlanta. Then I did something with Jim Neidhart and Nattie. And sometimes I pinch myself and say ‘do I really get paid to do this?’ Cause I still love to do this kind of stuff.”

Jimmy on the current crop of talent in the WWE: ”The Miz – he’s so cool. I love The Miz, he’s one of my favorites. He’s so different. He’s got that ‘it-factor’ so he’s like the James Dean or Marlon Brando of wrestling. I’ve done stuff with CM Punk. I saw him three or four years ago in Chicago and I knew he was just something special. And Cena, man he’s so real. He’s always doing stuff with the Make-A-Wish foundation and he’s so dedicated. And of course Triple H, being up and down the roads with him over the years and now he has a real good spot with the company right now too.”

Jimmy’s ring gear and being a long time manager and the lack of managers in today’s product: ”I kept all of my jackets from WrestleMania 1 and so on. And one day I might have a themed restaurant and put them all on display and you can get wings and visit the place. As far as being a manager and having different jackets for each guy, the managers role in the wrestling now is different. I only see Vickie Guerrero doing that role now – a manager/agent type role. The way things change in wrestling, you really don’t know. But there’s an old saying – ‘if you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’re gonna have what you’ve always had’. And if business is going well in the WWE without managers then you might as well keep doing it. And right now, everything the WWE touches seems to turn to gold.”
