On this episode of WRESTLECHAT RADIO presented by FANJUNKIES.NET, hosts Brett Clendaniel and Jim Williams are joined by special guests John Philapavage (Producer, Director of “Barbed Wire City“) and CamelClutchBlog.com & Pro Wrestling Radio host Eric Gargiulo.
Philapavage goes into great detail about “Barbed Wire City”. Among the topics we discuss are the challenges with funding the film via Kickstarter, why it seems that so many of the ECW Originals in the film still hold resentment towards Paul Heyman, the infamous Mass Transit incident, working with Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, how he feels about guys like Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney who still struggle with ECW’s closing, if he has any regrets now that the film has completed, and gives some details on the extended cut that expected out later this year. We also discuss the special screening of the film this Thursday, May 23rd, at the Pickwick Theatre in Chicago.
Eric Gargiulo joins us in breaking down the fallout from both Extreme Rules and RAW. The first-ever meeting of Japanese legend Jushin Liger and former ECW World champion Sabu will headline the Extreme Rising one year anniversary show in Philadelphia, PA at the National Guard Armory Wrestlemania weekend Thursday 4/4.
While the two have faced off in New Japan, this will be the first time they wrestle Stateside and the first time they have met since the mid-1990s.

It’s been quite sometime since our last update. We have been working to add some live events for September and October, but some things didn’t line up and work out. However, that didn’t keep us from planning for the future of Extreme Rising. Before we get into the good news, we have some unfortunate news first. Always stay up to date on our website at

Due to circumstances beyond our control the Philadelphia November 17th live event has been rescheduled to Saturday, December 29th 2012 at the Pennsylvania National Guard Armory. Extreme Rising officials were notified that the State of PA informed the Armory that construction for a new floor and pipes was to begin on or around November 12th and the Armory officials can not guarantee the building being fit for use come the 17th or even the following week. Extreme Rising looked at several alternate venues in Philadelphia to house our major event but were unsuccessful in finding a building to suit our specifications and scheduling.
In the meantime, another opportunity presented itself for an alternate location to host the November 17
th Extreme Rising event at The Golden Dome in Pittsburgh. This November marks the fifteenth anniversary of “November to Remember” at the Golden Dome inMonaca, PA (Pittsburgh) –which also happens to be home to The Franchise Shane Douglas. November 17
th at the Golden Dome (CCBC) will start with a FAN FEST from 12 noon – 3pm, and a 7pm bell time. Anyone interested in joining the STREET TEAM email us immediately (

EXTREME RISING will now host its Saturday, November 17

Extreme Rising will return to the National Guard Armory in Philadelphia on Saturday, November 17th. The first main event of the night will crown the first Extreme Rising champion while the second main event will be a cage match with fan voting.
PWInsider reports that the event will be set up to be a major blow-off event with current storylines coming to an end and a pe-show fanfest at 12pm.

As we reported earlier, there was an incident involving New Jack and Balls Mahoney at Saturday’s Extreme Rising show in Philadelphia.
None of this was unexpected as New Jack apparently threatened Mahoney and buried him for a while on interviews. Mahoney called New Jack the N word in a tape that was released within the last week and the word got back to New Jack.
New Jack drilled Mahoney with a punch and landed about 15 other punches, according to the report the Wrestling Observer received. Mahoney never retaliated and wasn’t seriously injured although his face did lump up and never went down.
Security at the show didn’t break up the fight at first. New Jack then pulled to what is described as a machete and that was when security stepped in and stopped him. Security were shadowing New Jack as there was also heat with him and Homicide and people were getting concerned about things getting out of hand. Nothing happened in the end between New Jack and Homicide.
It’s expected that the company will try and turn both incidents into a work. Mahoney’s face was noticeably bruised and swollen while wrestling in his match later that night.

New Jack and Balls Mahoney had a legit backstagefight before the Extreme Rising show. The two have had heat for a while now and almost fought at the April show.
According to reports, New Jack punched Mahoney right when he walked in because of something Balls said in a recent DVD interview. The two were separated and kept apart for the rest of the night.

- Sabu returned to the ring in front of about 200 fans at last night’s Extreme Rising event in Queens, New York. Sabu defeated Papadon in the opener.
More newsworthy notes from Extreme Rising:
* The show went along much better than the first Extreme Reunion event.
* Former WWE star Sylvester Turkay was in attendance. He didn’t wrestle but filmed scenes for a Zombie vs. Wrestler movie that Shane Douglas also appears in.
* Taya Parker from the Rock of Love reality show was acting as a ring girl.
* Matt Hardy’s girlfriend Reby Sky came out and talked about the women who paved the way for her to be here – women like Beulah McGillicutty and Francine. As she left, former TNA star Homicide came out and they had words. She slapped him which led to him laying her out with an Ace Crusher. Matt Hardy came out for the save.
* Shane Douglas cut a long promo and at the end, talked about how he was bringing Lucha Libre back. He introduced Pescadilla, Super Crazy’s nephew and Bestia 666, the son of Damian 666. They wrestled and Bestia got the win.
* Matt Hardy worked the main event, defeating Jerry Lynn. They both put each other over on the mic after the match.
* Extreme Rising runs tonight in Philadelphia with Lynn vs. Hardy vs. Homicide in the main event. Other names appearing include Sandman, Sabu, The Gangstas, Balls Mahoney, Blue Meanie and more.

– Bestia 666 is the son of Damien 666, who worked for the original ECWand WCW. Pesadilla is the nephew of former ECW World TV Super Crazy.
– The promotion has made overtures to a number of former ECWinternational talents about working future dates.
– One name being discussed for the official name of the promotion is Dangerous Championship Wrestling.

The Extreme Reunion promotion is now known as Extreme Rising.
Their New York City debut will take place on June 29th in Corona, Queens at the Elmcor Youth & Adult Activities Center. Tickets go on sale this Monday. Matches announced for the NYC show include Matt Hardy vs. Jerry Lynn, Devon Storm vs. Homicide, Luke Hawx vs. Stevie Richards, Pesadilla vs. Bestia 666, BLK OUT vs. The Dramatics plus appearances by The FBI, CW Anderson, The Blue Meanie, Balls Mahoney and Pitbull Gary Wolfe.

PWInsider reports that the Extreme Reunion promotion will be debuting in New York City on Friday, June 29th. No word yet on what the venue will be but it’s somewhere that has never seen pro wrestling action. An official announcement should be coming soon.
