Lucha Libre USA news & notes 1/20/11
0Lucha Libre USA will kick off their 2011 calendar on tonight with a live event in Highlands, CA at the San Miguel Indian Bingo & Casino.
To promote the event, The San Bernadino County Sun featured an interview with Tigresa Caliente (formerly Rhaka Khan in TNA), which you can read by clicking here. In the piece, she noted that she was trained by Marty Jannetty and while she’s worked for WWE (developmental) and TNA, she’s fallen in love with the Lucha style, specifically praising Marco Corleone. “The `mask’ is so sacred,” she commented. “It’s an honor to wear a mask and be a superhero by transforming into character and put on a live, unreal, high-flying, breathtaking match.”
The promotion has announced MTV2 taping dates in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for this Saturday 1/22 and 2/5. There’s no word as to a return to MTV2n yet, however. To promote those tapings, LLUSA currently has a local TV clearance in that market on Univision KLUZ 41. If anyone is attending any of the LLUSA events of tapings, PWInsider.com is seeking spoiler reports, so feel free to send them on!
We haven’t heard any definitive word on when the “second” season will begin airing on MTV2.
Lizzy Valentine, who was seen in WSX and Wrestlicious, among other promotions has signed a deal here.
