As seen on Friday’s SmackDown, Antonio Cesaro made his WWE TV debut in a “tryout match” against Tyson Kidd. Cesaro was introduced by his new lady friend Aksana before the match. The stipulation was that if John Laurinaitis liked what he saw, he would offer Cesaro a contract. Cesaro defeated Kidd in about three minutes and WWE’s website indicates that he is now part of the SmackDown roster.
- “Showdown in the Sun” was the highlight of this week’s “Tuesday Rollout” as the two-day event was released on DVD!!! Featuring the Richards/Strong/Edwards ROH World Title Match, Briscoes vs. WGTT Tag Title Match, the Blind Destiny Challenge, and Steen/Generico Last Man Standing match, these two releases are must-haves for every ROH fan! This is a special article, so I’m going to give it a special title. Instead of “So Sayeth the Truth”, I’m going to call it “So Sayeth the House”. I want to dedicate this article to my union, The House of Truth. “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin and Roderick Strong have repeatedly shown their strength and loyalty to me. At the last PPV, Showdown in the Sun, Michael Elgin took the ROH World Champion Davey Richards to his limit. Roderick Strong became the ROH Television Champion by defeating Jay Lethal in an intense, hard fought bout.
Now, I’m going to take you back in time…a time when I first met Roderick Strong. Roderick to me was a lost soul. He was destined to become the ROH World Champion but that dream never came to pass. He had numerous opportunities to become the Champion however he never fulfilled his destiny. Seven years in Ring of Honor…never a World Champion. Six months with Truth Martini…and his dream had come true as he became your Ring of Honor World Champion. Coincidence? I think not!
Michael Elgin was a free agent with no direction. A year and a half ago his journey to become one of the greatest wrestlers of all time began when he joined The House of Truth. Six months ago he won the “Survival of the Fittest” Tournament which guaranteed him a shot at the ROH World Championship. As you all know Davey Richards miraculously won the match at “Showdown in the Sun”, however in my opinion, which is the only opinion that matters, Michael Elgin will be a future Ring of Honor World Champion!
Roderick Strong, Michael Elgin, and I, as individuals, have talent that is indescribable but the three of us together, as the House of Truth, have talent on loan from God. When one man falls, the other is there to pick him up. When one man triumphs the other is there to bask in his glory. Together we are celebrated instead of tolerated. We have a bond that cannot be broken. Other people claiming to have such a bond say that they will die for one another, but the H.O.T takes it one step further, we will not only die for each other, we will live for each other. The H.O.T is not just a house…it’s a home. And that my friend is UNITY.
You meet thousands and they never touch you mentally or spiritually, then you meet one and your life is changed forever. I am the ONE.
The last time we were in Virginia for “ROH Underground”, Eddie Edwards and Mike Bennett were scheduled to lock-up but due to a staph infection suffered by “Die Hard” that match was unable to take place. The two grapplers eventually did compete as part of the March Mayhem tournament on “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV, vying for a spot in the Four Way Finals with the $24,000 prize at stake. It was Bennett who got the victory in that meeting but not without some dubious behavior on the part of his girlfriend, Maria Kanellis, as well as Brutal Bob, that helped him pick up the victory.
Well now Edwards will have his chance to even the score as on May 19th, when we hit Richmond & The Greater Richmond Convention Center, “Die Hard” will meet “The Prodigy” once again!
“It’s not my fault that Eddie can’t accept defeat.” said Mike Bennett to ROHWrestling.com, “I beat him plain and simple in Baltimore and he can blame Maria all he wants, refuse to accept responsibility for his own losses, but the bottom line is that the better man, certainly the smarter guy, won that night. So you want to step into the ring with me once again? You want to go one-on-one with the guy who put down Lance Storm just a few weeks ago? The guy who is going to retire him at Border Wars? So be it Eddie, just don’t go blaming Maria when you choke again.”
It’s a possibility that Maria Kanellis could get play a factor in this one as she will be at the side of “The Prodigy” in Richmond so Edwards will have to have eyes in the back of his head that night. It’s “Die Hard” Eddie Edwards vs. “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett on May 19th when ROH returns to Richmond! Get your tickets here!
On May19th, one week after our huge iPPV event “Border Wars” in Toronto, Ring of Honor returns to Richmond, VA at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. Two big tag team rematches have now been signed for the event:
The All Night Express vs. Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin
In their last two matches, on “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV & at the “10th Anniversary Event”, Rhett Titus & Kenny King have picked up the win over WGTT, including the former in a Proving Ground bout which earned them a tag team title match they, to date, still have not received. To say they are hungry, itching, for that title match would be an understatement, but ANX is more than willing to wait and continue to take on any competition until their day comes.
“WGTT, The Lady Bucks, Caprice & Cedric, at this point it doesn’t matter a damn who you put in that ring with us.” Said Kenny King to ROHWrestling.com, “All Rhett and I are waiting for is our title match and we will keep running over every damn team Ring of Honor puts out there with us until we get it. Charlie & Shelton, we’ve done this dance a few times now, wins and losses have gone back and forth, but what matters is that the last time, the last two times, we beat your asses. Maybe the third time will be the charm for you, but there’s no doubt in my heart that this is our time. This is ANX’s time and there ain’t a damn soul who’s stopping this train.”
The Briscoes vs. Roderick Strong & Michael Elgin
The rivalry between these four men started at “Battle in the Carolinas” when the HoT & Briscoes were on the losing end of a huge 8-Man elimination tag. From there they collided in a tag team match on “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV where each team put up their own money. The Briscoes won that contest, which meant they earned the prize, but to little surprise, the check Truth Martini wrote for his half bounced. A measure of revenge was taken in Baltimore when Papa Briscoe joined his boys to lay a whoppin’ on Strong, Elgin, and Martini himself in a 6-Man tag. Now in Richmond the rivalry will be renewed as Jay & Mark go toe-to-toe with Strong & Elgin in a tag team clash.
“The Briscoes have had a lucky run.” offered Truth Martini, “Since Final Battle they have been riding high on their seventh tag title reign. It is an impressive feat and I am not discounting the efforts you two have made to accomplish your goals, rather I am here to tell you that your world is about to come crashing down around you. The House of Truth represents the death of your dreams Briscoe Brothers. We took your money and now we will take your spirit. The only question left to be answered is whether or not you will still have your tag team titles by the team we get our hands on you?”
That last point is one that shall be addressed following the events of both Dayton on April 29th and Toronto on May 12th when Jay & Mark will defend their ROH World Tag Team Titles against Haas & Benjamin, the latter in a match that has traditionally brought closure to a rivalry, a “Fight Without Honor”. Who knows what shape either team will be in following their “FWH” in Canada but the future of the tag team titles, and how it impacts our Richmond event, is still to be determined.

- As seen at “Showdown in the Sun – Day 1” and on the April 14th edition of “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV, “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett scored a huge win over Lance Storm but spit in the face of the Canadian Icon’s show of respect, laying out Lance after he extended his hand. Following the match, Storm challenged Bennett to a rematch at any time and in any location, refusing to go out in that fashion with “some cheap son of a b**** and his two-bit girlfriend standing over me”. Well that rematch is coming quick as ROH officials have officially signed it for “Border Wars” on May 12th in Toronto!!! Get your tickets right here before it is too late!

Ring of Honor is currently looking for a new iPPV provider. They are officially done with Go Fight Live, and GFL has pulled the June Best in the World 2 iPPV off their calendar. The company will not release details until a deal is signed and finalized. At this time, the new outlet is not expected to be HybridEnt.tv or WWNLive.com.
