ROH Star Jay Briscoe on Delaware Allowing Gay Marriages: “Teach My Kids [That's OK] & I’ll Shoot You”

0

ROH wrestler Jay Briscoe tweeted the following on Wednesday in response to the state of Delaware legalizing same-sex marriages.

“The Delaware Senate passed a bill yesterday that allows same sex couples to get married. If that makes you happy, then congratulations!!!!!!”

“… try and teach my kids that there’s nothing wrong with that and I’ll f*cking shoot you”

It’s worth nothing that WWE was interested in signing the Briscoe Brothers, but this act here certainly won’t help their chances.

UPDATE: Briscoe has issued the following apology: “I feel very strongly about how and who should teach kids about certain things but I showed poor judgment by using that analogy and I’m sorry”

Former WWE Diva Maria Kanellis Says She Wants to be in WWE & Playboy Again

0

via Gerweck.net:

“I want to go back to WWE, and maybe [fiancé] Mike [Bennett] will come with me,” Maria Kanellis told playboy.com in an interview. The former WWE diva said she was contacted about doing a match at WrestleMania 29, but it never came to fruition.

She continued, “I love my job at Ring of Honor, and being the First Lady is awesome. I think that I’m going to continue working with them. As much as I would love to go back to WWE, they contacted me in January and asked me to come back and then a month later they said the storyline fell through. So it didn’t end up working out this time, but maybe in a year from now it will.”

On doing Playboy: ” I wanna do it again! I loved it. It was a great experience. I always said when I did it the first time that it was like coming out as a woman and really saying I’m not a little girl anymore.”

Latest Status on Shelton Benjamin Requesting His ROH Release

0

Weeks ago it was reported that Shelton Benjamin had asked and received his released for ROH but that no longer appears to be the case. ROH announced on Facebook that Shelton Benjamin will return to the company on Febuary 2nd. He will be teaming with Charlie Haas to take on the ROH World Tag Team Champions, The Briscoes.

There is a stipulation in place that says if Haas & Benjamin lose this match, they can NEVER team in ROH again.

What this could lead to is Benjamin & Haas losing the match with Haas continuing in ROH while Shelton moves on.

Details released for upcoming ROH TV taping in January

0

Ring of Honor returns to Baltimore on January 5th for another set of “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV tapings and our first live event of 2013! The fallout from “Final Battle 2012” will be felt and in addition to the Top Prospect Tournament matches already announced, we now have more details on the shape of this Maryland event:

-World TV Champion Adam Cole defends vs. BJ Whitmer!
The World TV Title situation heated up behind the scenes after “Final Battle 2012” when first “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett petitioned for a TV Title match based on his victory over Jerry Lynn and then Matt Hardy declared he too wanted a shot since he beat TV Champ Adam Cole that night. However ROH Match Maker Nigel McGuinness was extremely unhappy with the way that both men won their matches in NYC and refused to grant them a TV title match. Instead Nigel has chosen to reward someone who has shown toughness, heart, and a true dedication to maintaing honor with his fights against S.C.U.M: BJ Whitmer! Nigel is definitely looking to prove a point to both Bennett and Hardy, as well as the rest of the ROH locker room, at what sort of behavior will be tolerated and rewarded in the future…
-“Unbreakable” Michael Elgin vs. “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett w/ Maria & Brutal Bob
Almost in response to Bennett’s petition, he must now face the man who defeated him at “Killer Instinct”, another wrestler who was the victim of a questionable loss: “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin! Elgin is looking to get back into the title hunt as well as get his hands on Roderick Strong after the way Roddy beat him in NYC but Bennett needs the win just as badly if he wants to prove he deserves that crack at the TV Title he craves!
-MsChif takes on Athena in Women of Honor action!
-A Four Team Tag Gauntlet will go down!
-“The Self Proclaimed ICON” Matt Hardy will be in singles action!
-And ROH Match Maker Nigel McGuinness will address the Jay Lethal situation that played out at “Final Battle 2012”
ROH hits the road in Baltimore to kick off the New Year so don’t miss out on the greatest live pro wrestling experience available anywhere! Tickets on sale now!

3rd & 4th names announced for “ROH 2013 Top Prospect Tournament”

0
The next two entrants into the 2013 Top Prospect Tournament have been named and they are:
Silas Young
In addition to his years of working his tail off around the independent wrestling scene, this midwest standout recently took it to “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin at “Brew City Beatdown” and seriously impressed ROH officials. Now he has the opportunity to stand at the top of pack with a victory in the 2013 TPT!
Mike Sydal
Sydal has been fighting to get a regular spot on the ROH roster and has put in impressive performances against numerous opponents but has yet to score that big victory to secure his position. An outstanding showing in the 2013 TPT could be just the ticket Sydal needs to become a fixture in ROH and prove he has what it takes to named the Top Prospect!
ACH, Marshall, Young, & Sydal…there are four men athletes still to join the field for the 2013 Top Prospect Tournament so make sure you check back here at ROHWrestling.com after the holiday to see who else will have their chance to breakout on January 5th in Baltimore!

ROH NewsWire for 12/28/12

1

- We here at ROH hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday filled with peace, love, and joy!

- On January 5th, when we return to Baltimore for the first “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV tapings of the new year, ROH Match Maker Nigel McGuinness has decided that the Top Prospect Tournament will return! Eight men will field the brackets who have all seen ROH competition in the past but have not had many opportunities to shine on the big stage. Some of the competitors haven’t cemented a spot and some who are even under contract but have yet to truly breakout will be featured. Today it was announced that independent standout ACH and RD Evan’s client, “God’s Gift” QT Marshall were the first two men chosen for the field!  Tickets are on sale here!

- Also announced today, on January 18th when ROH returns to Dearborn, it will be a collision of two former HoT members when Michael Elgin and Rhino go one-on-one once again! There are a lot of questions about Rhino right now as it pertains to SCUM but there is no question about Elgin’s intent! He is looking to destroy everything in his path to get to Roderick Strong and get back to the World Title! Tickets for our Dearborn event are available now!

- Speaking of Rhino, his role in S.C.U.M is still a question unanswered but long-time followers of either Corino or Rhino know of the extreme history between these two individuals. Is Rhino being paid by S.C.U.M to protect the group? Has Rhino volunteered his services to S.C.U.M through the influence of Steve Corino? Is Rhino officially the fourth member? These questions should be answered shortly.

- At “Final Battle 2012”, Jay Lethal promised he would fight World Champion Kevin Steen that night no matter what it took and although he did not accomplish that personal goal, what he did accomplish was quite literally spitting in the face of Ring of Honor. In a scene very reminiscent of ones the aforementioned Steen caused at “Best in the World 2011” and “Death Before Dishonor IX” later that year, Lethal spat in the face of ROH Match Maker Nigel McGuinness and had to be forcibly removed from the building by ROH staff & security. Despite the chaos Lethal caused, Nigel has stated that Lethal will NOT be suspended for his actions and that he will further address the situation in Baltimore on January 5th. What will happen in Baltimore is unknown but ROH officials plan to have extra security in the building that night to ensure the safety of our new Match Maker.

- Speaking of Jay Lethal, yesterday it was announced that Nigel had signed both of his matches in Dearborn on January 18th and Milwaukee on January 19th. When we make our long-awaited return to Dearborn, MI it will be Lethal versus one of the men who assaulted him in NYC, the one-half of the former World Tag Team Champions, Steve Corino! Then, twenty four hours later in Milwaukee, Lethal will unite with the very men who dethroned S.C.U.M, Jay & Mark Briscoe, and they will take on Corino, Jimmy Jacobs, and the third man who was party to Jay’s NYC attack, “The Man Beast” Rhino! Tickets for both events can all be purchased right here in the ROH Store!

- On January 19th when ROH returns to Milwaukee, it will be student vs. teacher, friend vs. friend, and the final nail in the coffin of Team Ambition as Kyle O’Reilly and Davey Richards finally going one-on-one! This is a long time in the making and could easily steal the show!

- Everybody in the Briscoe family is safe after an unruly Christmas party that saw Mark Briscoe almost lose his hand.

- This week on Ring of Honor Wrestling, its a special New Years edition taking a look back at the year 2012! The most intriguing moments of the year will be profiled, plus we will announce the 2012 Match of the Year! With so many great matches throughout the year, what match will be voted above all of the rest? Don’t miss the year-end review of the best wrestling on the planet today! Click here to see if ROH airs in your area.

- This week’s “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV is available to everyone by clicking here and its a special holiday edition taking a look back at the year 2012! The best matches and events of the year will be profiled including Lance Storm against “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett, Adam Cole versus Roderick Strong for the ROH Television Title, plus much more! Don’t miss the year-end review of the best wrestling on the planet today

- “The Outlaw” Charlie Haas is signed to appear at all January events but Shelton Benjamin will not be by his side. Haas is pissed off about many things right now and wanted everyone to know that he “hopes their Christmas was awful and filled with crap.”

- Ring of Honor will be participating in “National Pro Wrestling Day” on Saturday, February 2nd, 2013 at the Derby Ink Gardens in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is FREE admission and will feature talent and matches from Ring of Honor, CHIKARA, Wrestling is Fun, and many more. Representing ROH will be Jay & Mark Briscoe against S.C.U.M. (Steve Corino & Jimmy Jacobs)! Visit www.nationalprowrestlingday.com for more info. We LOVE pro wrestling!

- People are still talking about the main event of “Final Bettle 2012″ with ROH Champion Kevin Steen retaining in Ladder War 4 against El Generico. Rumor has it that since this match Kevin Steen has not been his normal self which is understandable given the intense nture of the bout. El Generico has not been heard from and is apparently out of the country at the moment. The match was truly a spectacle and up for debate as a possible match of the year. If for some reason you missed “Final Battle 2012: Doomsday” you can check out the replay of this great event right here.

- Our next iPPV is our “11th Anniversary” on Saturday March 2nd in Chicago Ridge, IL and people are making arrangements from all over the world to attend! ALSO on Sunday March 3rd we will hold a special “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV Taping in the same building! As a special holiday gift to our fans, from the day they go on-sale until 12/31 at 11:59PM, All General Admission tickets for the March 3rd TV Taping will by ONLY $5!!! But the sale doesn’t end there because, as a little New Year’s gift, from 1/1/13 until 1/31/13 the GA tickets will be just $10! After that they will be sold at $15 so don’t miss out on your chance to save!

- So much going on in ROH right now. Check back to ROHwrestling.com tomorrow for more match announcements and all of the latest news!

Matt Hardy’s next ROH opponent announced for Milwaukee show

0

It was one of the scariest moments of the night at “Final Battle 2012” when BJ Whitmer ascended to the top rope thinking Charlie Haas, laid on a table, was too out of it to stop him. Unfortunately Haas sprung up, surprised Whitmer, and suplexed BJ off the top thru a table headfirst.

It was a truly terrifying moment that left all of us here at Ring of Honor quite concerned for BJ’s health and well-being but thankfully, after a bit of rest and relaxation, there were no serious effects to Whitmer’s head and neck. Whitmer’s career has been defined by moments like those, surviving things that would put a normal man down for the count, and being able to continue fighting.
He did it with a broken ankle for months, he did it during the CZW war when he was abused in every ultraviolent fashion possible, and only BJ himself knows what other physical trauma he has suffered through silently yet continued to battle on. Yet despite these courageous moments in his career, despite the scary situation at “Final Battle 2012”, there is one man who has found a way to take up issue with Whitmer’s survival skills: Matt Hardy.
“Stronger than death?” Hardy said via e-mail to ROH officials, “In New York I heard fans say that BJ Whitmer was the one stronger than death, and that Matt Hardy had nothing on him. I don’t know what all BJ has gone through in his life, I’m sure it’s been traumatic, but none of it compares to everything I have seen and felt in my years traveling the globe as an internationally recognized superstar. I survived drugs, TLC, car wrecks, I have stared death in her face, walked through hell, and come out the other side with a smile on my face. Stronger than Death? That title only belongs to one man and that man is obviously Matt Hardy. So what I am telling ROH officials to do is make BJ Whitmer’s career and let him get into the ring with me in Milwaukee. I heard you’ve traveled the world a little yourself too BJ but one night in the ring with Matt Hardy and more eyes will be on you than ever before. So make the most of it BJ but don’t be mistaken, I will show you and everyone watching that night who really lives up to those three words.”
It’s Matt Hardy vs. BJ Whitmer on Jan. 19th when ROH hits Milwaukee, WI! Which warrior will prove stronger than death? Be there live to find out!!!

ROH announces Elgin vs. Rhino II

0
At “Survival of the Fittest 2012” in Baltimore, “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin and “The Man Beast” Rhino collided in a Qualifying Bout while both men were still operating under the umbrella of The House of Truth. That night, with some involvement from Martini himself that prevented Rhino from hitting The Gore, Elgin scored a victory and advanced to the Elimination Finals of the SOTF tournament.
Fast forward only three months and now neither man claims any affiliation to Martini’s leadership, or his money, as they have both declared their independence from the HoT in very physical fashions.
Still, Martini won’t let Elgin go easily as he played a direct factor in his defeat at the hands of Roderick Strong at “Final Battle 2012” but at least Truth suffered for it after the fact. As for Rhino, well that is another question entirely because while his ties with Martini have been cut clean, there is now a lingering riddle of just what his affiliation to S.C.U.M may be following “Final Battle 2012”.
With the S.C.U.M question out there, and with Elgin still looking to get his hands on Roderick in a Martini-less fashion, these two mountains will go one-on-one once more when ROH returns to Dearborn, MI on January 18th!!!
“The last time Rhino and I went head to head, I may have won but it was far from satisfying.” said Elgin to ROHWrestling.com, “Truth threw himself in the middle of that match, just like he did at Final Battle, and it left that question out there of just who would have won if not for Truth’s involvement. As for you, Rhino…I saw what you did to Lethal in New York, and while I honestly don’t care one way or the other about whatever you’re doing with SCUM, I’m forced to wonder if I have to worry about that too, or if it was just one moment in time. See my aim is to run you over Rhino, my aim is to get back in the ring with Kevin Steen and take the ROH World Title, and I will break SCUM, I will break Truth, I will break Roderick, and I will break anyone who tries to get in the way of that.”
It’s Elgin vs. Rhino on January 18th at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center in Dearborn, MI! Add that powerhouse match-up to the already announced Wolves vs. Briscoes, Cole vs. Jacobs, and Lethal vs. Corino bouts and it looks like ROH is kicking off 2013 with a bang! Tickets for our return to the Great Lakes State are available right here!

First two participants added to “ROH 2013 Top Prospect Tournament”

0
The first two prospects for the field of eight have been set by ROH Match Maker Nigel McGuinness and they are:
1) ACH
This independent prospect impressed ROH officials, and McGuinness in particular, when he made his debut at “Death Before Dishonor X”, and nearly scored the upset of the night by beating Kyle O’Reilly. ROH fans have been clamoring for the return of ACH and now they have it! The burden now falls on ACH’s shoulders to prove himself worthy of his spot in the field and possibly earn himself a more solid spot in Ring of Honor.
2) “God’s Gift” QT Marshall w/ RD Evans
QT made a bit of an impact on ROH when he fought for, and earned, his contract at “Boiling Point 2012” but since then his momentum has stalled. He was eliminated in the Qualifying Round of “Survival of the Fittest 2012” despite being taken on as a client by RD Evans then at “Final Battle 2012” found himself cornering Evans as he fought Prince Nana. The Barrister has promised though that with having won his “moral victory” (RD’s words) over Nana, all of his focus is on providing Marshall with all the tools he needs to (again RD’s words) “be a better wrestler, better man, and better everything than Tommaso Ciampa ever was”. A victory in this tournament would be the perfect way for QT to kick off his 2013 and make a statement that it is going to be his year…
In addition to ACH & Marshall, six other individuals will battle it out in a one night, single elimination tournament with, in Nigel’s words, “something special” in store for the winner! In 2011 when we last held the tourney the prize was a shot at the World TV Title, what will be at stake this year? Be there live in Baltimore on 1/5/12 to find out for yourself and check back tomorrow, as well as next week, to find out who the other 6 men involved in the 2013 Top Prospect Tournament will be!!! Tickets are on-sale now!
