He was in the first official match at “The Era of Honor Begins”, battling Jay Briscoe in a hard-hitting & high-flying exhibition that set the tone for what was to come. He actually pulled double-duty that night, competing in a Ultimate Aerial Elimination Match later on teaming with The SAT in a losing effort against Quiet Storm & Brian XL with their trainer Mikey Whipwreck serving as the guest referee. He is The Amazing Red!
He had the honor of teaming with Eddie Guerrero at “A Night of Appreciation”, battled Xavier & Low Ki at “Road to the Title”, innovated aerial combat in ROH throughout the early years, reigned as one-half of the Tag Team Champions alongside AJ Styles, and actually never lost the belts as Red suffered a serious injury that forced ROH officials to strip he & AJ of the belts. The last time he battled inside the ROH ring was in a Six Man Mayhem at the “At Our Best” event against Teddy Hart, Sonjay Dutt, Jimmy Rave, Jack Evans & Mark Briscoe. He was a trendsetter, and now, as ROH celebrates its tenth anniversary, he is coming back to the fold!
At the “10th Anniversary Event” on March 4th in NYC, the original high-flyer of ROH will team with “Technical Lighting” TJ Perkins, his present day equivalent, to take on former ROH World Champion Roderick Strong & “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin.
“The House of Truth has no issues with you Red, nor with you TJ Perkins.” Said Truth Martini, “That being said, I must warn you that this is 2012 and we are the HoT. This is our time and very soon Ring of Honor will be our company as both my men have title certainties in their future. This anniversary will be remembered as the night the HoT demonstrated why we are the most dominant force in ROH’s history; as individuals, and as a team. We welcome your efforts TJ, Red, and we look forward to the challenge you present, but it is an inevitability that you will fall to the Messiah of the Backbreaker and The Unbreakable One. So sayeth the Truth!”
No issues, no grudges, just four men going out there to put on the absolute best wrestling contest they can! It’s the return of The Amazing Red as he teams with TJ Perkins to face off with Strong & Elgin! It all goes down at the “10th Anniversary Event” on March 4th at The Hammerstein Ballroom! Get your tickets right here or order it live on iPPV here!
This past weekend on “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV, ROH World Tag Champion Mark Briscoe went one-on-one with Charlie Haas with his brother Jay handcuffed at ringside. Where was Shelton Benjamin? He was sitting at home on suspension after refusing to pay his fine for viciously assaulting the Briscoes with a chair a few weeks prior.
The younger Briscoe came out on top in the battle but it was Haas who won the war that night because, after losing, the former tag team champion took advantage of Jay’s restraints and assaulted Mark with a chair shot right across the head. As cocky as ever, Charlie took money out of his own pocket, paid the $5,000 fines for both he and Shelton, and walked away quite pleased with himself.
“We can play that f****** game Charlie.” said an angry Jay, “Hell we been playing that game for years here in ROH. We ain’t never given a damn about fines and you best believe that next time we get our hands on you boys there’s gonna be some hefty dues to pay that night. Ring of Honor ya’ll better make this happen, and it damn sure better happen soon cause Charlie and Shelton need an ass whuppin like nobodies business. Do it on TV, do it on pay per view, hell do it in my damn backyard for all we care, titles, no titles, just best make sure you put those two ***** in the same ring as me and Mark ASAP before this **** gets worse, and you know Dem Boys can make this plenty worse.”
Well with a title defense against The Young Bucks scheduled for the “10th Anniversary Event” on March 4th in NYC this fight would obviously have to wait for a later date, but not that much later. On Saturday March 31st, as part of our second day of “Showdown in the Sun”, it will be ROH World Tag Team Champions Jay & Mark Briscoe vs. Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team, Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin! And should The Briscoes retain their titles in NYC, than this contest will be fought for the ROH World Tag Team Titles!
It’s The Briscoes vs. WGTT in Ft. Lauderdale on 3/31! Don’t miss out on “Showdown in the Sun” when ROH shows the world why we are the absolute best professional wrestling on the planet! Tickets for the event are available right here at Ticketmaster or you can order the event live on iPPV via GoFightLive here!

Episode 21 of “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV that aired on 2/11/12 saw Roderick Strong & Michael Elgin, with Truth Martini in their corner, take on The Briscoes in a $10,000 Challenge Match. Each team put up $5,000 of their own cash stemming from their loss at “Northern Aggression” in the All Star 8 Man Tag Team Match in which a $10,000 pay day was allotted to the winning team.
During the course of the bout, Jay ended up outside the ring and Martini, taking advantage of the referee being elsewhere, threw powder into his eyes. Jay quickly went to the back to clean out his eyes, while Strong & Elgin beat Mark down in the ring. Jay returned, now brandishing a baseball bat, and hit both Strong & Elgin with it drawing a disqualification win for the HoT. Regardless of that outcome the Briscoes took both checks and were happy to be $5000 richer…seemingly.
“Man that was one happy day for the Briscoe family.” said Mark, “Called up the Big Man, told him we got the ten grand, and he said he was heading out as soon as we cashed that check to pick up a new Manure Spreader with a 50-Bushel capacity! You got any idea how much that thing costs?”
Unfortunately for Papa Briscoe when they went to cash the check, they discovered Truth Martini had stopped payment, leaving the Briscoes well short of making their purchase with that extra cash that they were expecting.
“To say the Big Man was pissed wouldn’t do it justice.” said Jay, “I ain’t even said the words that came outta his mouth when we left the bank, so when Big Man said he wanted to kick Truth’s ass for this, well how could I not give him my phone to call up Ring of Honor?”
And that is exactly what Papa Briscoe did, demanding ROH officials give him a match with Truth so he could “…beat $5,000 out of that *****************”. It wouldn’t be the first time he entered the ring, stepping in alongside his sons to fight The Kings of Wrestling & Shane Hagadorn at “Final Battle 2010”, but regardless ROH officials were not going to put him in the ring one-on-one with Truth. So a compromised was reached…
On March 3rd in Baltimore, when ROH returns for another set of “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV Tapings, it will be Roderick Strong, Michael Elgin, & Truth Martini facing Mark, Jay, & Papa Briscoe in a 6 MAN TAG MAIN EVENT! This match will NOT be taped for television broadcast, going down exclusively for the fans in attendance that night, and you can expect the whole Briscoe Family to be in the building to root on their family against HoT!
Come join the Sandy Fork family as the ROH World Tag Team Champions Jay & Mark Briscoe team with their dad to battle Roderick Strong, Michael Elgin, AND Truth Martini! Tickets are available now!

“It seems to me that, in the last couple of years, every time ROH goes to New York City, I end up facing off against an old friend.” explained Steen, ”Jimmy, when that bell rings at the 10th Anniversary, I hope what you said in Baltimore rings true and that you bring the evil piece of s*** Jimmy Jacobs that I used to admire, and not the gutless puppy dog I’ve been watching for a year. I hope that when all is said and done, I’m dripping with my own blood and covered in yours. I hope I’m in so much pain that I’ll finally know the real Jimmy Jacobs isn’t dead and buried. And more than anything, I hope that when you’re being carried away from the fight, you remember the old saying…If you can’t beat them…join them.” Steen vs. Jacobs goes down in The Hammerstein Ballroom on Sunday March 4th and you can get your tickets here! Can’t be there, then order it live on iPPV here for only $9.99!

The only way to see this match is to be there live so get your tickets now!

- Don’t miss the latest edition of “Ring of Honor Wrestling” Available now to Ringside Members right here. The week’s episode features “Wrestling’s Worst Nightmare” Kevin Steen making his long awaited in-ring debut on TV against young Andy “Right Leg” Ridge. Also Eddie Edwards & Adam Cole will be in action for the first time as a team following the events of the last episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV so it will be intriguing to see how they gel as a unit leading into their main event battle against Davey Richards & Kyle O’Reilly at the “10th Anniversary Event”. And in your main event, it is scheduled to be WGTT, Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin versus The Young Bucks but as we saw last week, Benjamin is suspended until he coughs up $5,000 in fines.
They are Shane Haste & Mikey Nicholls, two standouts from the Australian continent who spent a great deal of time training in the Pro Wrestling NOAH dojo and touring alongside the likes of Marufuji, KENTA, Shiozaki, and former ROH World Champion Morishima. They are also the men who beat two other tag teams in Cincinnati as part of the “Rise & Prove” Tag Tournament and earned the right to step onto The Proving Ground against the ROH World Tag Team Champions.
“It’s the opportunity of a lifetime mate.” said Nicholls, “And thanks go out to Ring of Honor officials for given me and Shane the chance to prove ourselves in Cincinnati. Now comes the big test for us, the one that all our time in the NOAH dojo and on the road in Japan prepared us for, this Proving Ground. Whenever it goes down, wherever we get that chance, whoever it’s against, we will make the most of it earn a match for the ROH Tag Titles. Taking this one step at a time; the first one was in Ohio, earning that shot is the next step, then….”
Well that opportunity will come pretty quickly for Haste & Nicholls as they have now been invited to “Showdown in the Sun” on March 30th when Ring of Honor travels to Ft. Lauderdale for the first time ever! That night, live on iPPV, they will get the Proving Ground match they’ve are waiting for! The only lingering question is just who they will face: The Briscoes or The Young Bucks? Those two teams will meet on March 4th at the “10th Anniversary Event” with the ROH World Tag Belts on the line and the winners will meet Haste & Nicholls at The War Memorial.
If the Australian duo have their druthers, based on the video included below, they certainly hope the Briscoes make it to Ft. Lauderdale.
Can Haste & Nicholls earn that title opportunity against ROH’s benchmark team? They already proved themselves once in Cincy, but like Nicholls said, that was just step one. Now they face the most decorated tag team in ROH history with the chance to earn a title shot on the line. The Briscoes vs. Haste & Nicholls, March 30th, “Showdown in the Sun”!

According to our various sources inside Ring of Honor, there appears to be growing concern amongst many in Ring of Honor that since the Sinclair Broadcasting Group take over back in May 2011 that Jim Cornette & SBG may be “burying” or “changing” the product.
Rumblings of these feelings started to get louder after Ring of Honor ran their debut show in Cincinnati, Ohio this past Friday night and the card was a shell of the “normal” ROH roster. The card was filled with Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) talents, a promotion that Jim Cornette has been affiliated during his time in the WWE and most recently prior to TNA signing them as a developmental territory. The event was headlined by Davey Richards & Kyle O’Reilly vs. The Briscoe Brothers and featured a “rise & prove tournament” with various OVW wrestlers.
This report is coming out after growing sentiment from the Ring of Honor fan base lashed out in various outlets regarding the Tag Team match that will be headlining Ring of Honor’s 10th Anniversary Show in NYC. The match with be Eddie Edwards & Adam Cole vs. Davey Richards & Kyle O’Reilly. The event will be available on iPPV for $9.99 on Saturday March 4th.
Many fans are starting to believe that the promotion has gotten away from wrestling and traveled more into a “MMA feel” according to sources since this will be the 3rd time in 4 NYC events where Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards will be wrestling. Their match at Final Battle 2011 was met with negative comments from both those in attendance and those who watched on iPPV. A stark difference from the praise they received six month earlier for the tremendous match they had at “Best in the World 2011.”
The change has been met with some resentment from various current and past ROH wrestlers as Colt Cabana recently re-tweeted a comment from a fan about not being booked for the 10th Anniversary show “yet a friend of Jim Cornette’s may get a payday.” This of course is alluding to Dan “The Beast” Severn’s appearance at Final Battle 2011.
Various sources tell us that there is a growing concern and that it’s only a matter of time before Ring of Honor’s roster looks more like Ohio Valley Wrestling’s roster where Jim Cornette will be responsible for bring in “his boys.” Cornette was responsible for ROH signing Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin back in December 2010, a move that while popular at first, has turned negative in recent months from fans and some wrestlers alike. The feeling is if ROH can afford Haas & Benjamin then why doesn’t ROH go out and book wrestlers such as Colt Cabana & Homicide.
No telling where this story will go in the coming months but it appears that for the first time publicly there may be hostility in the locker room due to the SBG ownership and more importantly Jim Cornette.
*Roderick Strong defeated Eddie Edwards in a No Holds Barred match.
*Samson Walker defeated Mike Mondo. Mondo beat Walker first but another referee came out and restarted the match.
*Shane Haste & Mikey Nicholls defeated Shiloh Jonze & Rudy Switchblade in the tournament final so they receive a Proving Ground match against Briscoes down the line. Haste and Nicholls really shocked the crowd with their work.
*ROH TV champion Jay Lethal defeated BJ Whitmer in a Proving Ground match with less than a minute in the time limit. This was AWESOME.
*ROH Tag Team champions The Briscoe Brothers defeated Kyle O’Reilly & ROH champion Davey Richards when they beat Kyle. This was great. Awesome debut.
Mike: sent the following live notes:
I went to ROH’s debut tonight, so here are some random notes and thoughts. The Masonic Temple is the strangest building ever. I lived here my entire life and had never heard of it. It was really intimate, sort of a smaller Center Stage in Atlanta with everyone right on top of the action.
Having driven to ROH a lot during the early era, I was initially really pissy about buying ringside seats for a show in my hometown, only to have it feature half OVW talent but the Australian team that won the tournament was just great. I couldn’t get over having to see Sean Casey in ROH. After seeing him for years locally, it just seemed like a weird fit.
BJ Whitmer showed up in the best shape I’ve ever seen him in. It was like night and day and if he doesn’t get a ROH job, there’s no justice, especially given some of the names on the roster these days. Jay Lethal has really grown as a worker since he was in TNA.
No Holds Barred Match and The main event were each worth the price of admission. Strong vs. Edwards was totally different from their iPPV match a few months ago. Briscoes were great and while I thought there was going to be a styles clash, they worked it really well. The top matches are going to be what sells the DVDs.
I know a lot of people have been hyping Elgin but Cole is the one to watch. I predict he’ll be a top guy within the year. You can just see that he’s got that knack for timing and bumps. He really reminds me of an early Shawn Michaels.
ROH gave out a pre-sale code for Dayton, which was a nice bonus for those of us who came tonight. It’s pretty amazing how often they are running around here these days, but you have to go where the TV airs I guess!
They didn’t sell out the venue but I’d guess there were about 400 or so there. It was a loud crowd as the acoustics made the place really pop in atmosphere. It seemed to be a mix of fans who watch the TV and hardcore fans that follow the company online. I hope they come back here soon. I’ll probably go to Dayton as well, as long as they freshen up the lineup and have the complete roster in for the show.
Thanks to PWInsider.com

- ROH officials are trying to confirm El Generico for future ROH events. Ever since “Final Battle 2011” Generico has been next to impossible to reach via phone or e-mail. We have received word from an outside source that Generico is almost healed physically but with the lack of communication it is apparent that he is still hurt mentally.
- Truth Martini has been using his managerial stroke with ROH officials to hold out on Michael Elgin & Roderick Strong getting their future title shots. ROH officials have attempted to schedule both wrestlers guaranteed title shots but Martini has bargained, negotiated, and used his leverage as a persuasive manager to keep it from happening. Elgin earned his ROH World Title match with a Survival of the Fittest 2011 victory while Strong earned a ROH TV Title match by going the distance with Jay Lethal in a Proving Ground Match at “Glory by Honor X”. It is believed that Martini does not see either champion as vulnerable right now and is waiting for the appropriate time to pressure ROH officials into signing the championship bouts. Before too long however, ROH officials will book each mans title shot regardless if Martini is ready or not.
- Lancelot and Harlem Bravado are one month into their stay at the Pro Wrestling NOAH dojo in Japan. They are training everyday and have been competing against some of the finest wrestlers that NOAH has to offer. When the Bravados return to the USA in early April, they are sure to be completely different athletes. Grandma Bravado has gone on record to state that she is very proud.

No belts are on the line, no Proving Ground here, this one is all about the money! Each team is putting up $5,000 of their own money! Also, it’s been building since before “Final Battle 2011″, and now Eddie Edwards & Kyle O’Reilly will go one-on-one inside the squared circle. They share a common bond in Davey Richards, but that bond is also what’s at the center of their issues. Which man will get his hand raised in victory in the end? Also Mike Mondo will be in action, and a whole lot more goes down this week on “Ring of Honor Wrestling”.
- Don’t miss this weekend’s edition of “Ring of Honor Wrestling” featuring “Wrestling’s Worst Nightmare” Kevin Steen making his long awaited in-ring debut on TV against young Andy “Right Leg” Ridge. Steen has been itching since “Final Battle 2011” to get inside the ring in front of the TV audience and show just why he feels he is the next ROH World Champion, and this is his first chance. Ridge, on the other hand, has been fighting to prove himself for some time now and has struggled in doing so. This is his chance to shine and maybe wake ROH up from the Nightmare before it really gets started. As you can see in the preview it looks like the scheduled main event does not take place and Dem Boys step up! To see if “Ring of Honor Wrestling” airs in your area please click here.

This Friday night in Cincinnati, Ohio BJ Whitmer makes his return to Ring of Honor competition for the first time since March 2008 to step into The Proving Ground against ROH World TV Champion Jay Lethal. But just who is BJ Whitmer?
A former multi-time ROH Tag Team Champion, Whitmer made his debut with ROH in 2003 after impressing fans throughout the Mid-West as well as in Pro Wrestling NOAH. Working his way through the ranks, Whitmer’s first brush with success came at “Wrath of the Racket” where he challenged for the ROH World Championship against Samoa Joe for the first time. Although unsuccessful in his title bid, BJ proved himself capable of hanging with one the toughest wrestlers in ROH. He would attempt to beat Joe once more at the “2nd Anniversary Show”, this time as part of a World Title 4 Corner Survival, but was also unsuccessful in dethroning the champion there.
As a member of The Prophecy, a rivalry with The Second City Saint led to Whitmer’s first taste of championship success as he & Dan Maff captured the ROH Tag Titles, albeit for only a couple hours, at “Round Robin Challenge III”, before losing them to The Briscoes. Together the won the first ever Ultimate Endurance match and, after discarding The Prophecy name, and captured their 2nd ROH Tag Titles at the “3rd Anniversary Celebration Pt. 1” in Feb. 2005. That reign was also short-lived however as Maff’s departure from ROH necessitated the belts be vacated, still Whitmer was undaunted. Selecting Jimmy Jacobs as his new partner, to the shock of many, the duo would claim the vacant titles, lose them a few months later, and reclaim them for a second time before a wedge was driven into the team, leading to a violent feud that culminated a Steel Cage war at “Supercard of Honor II”.
The man lovingly referred to as “Hillbilly Jesus” by the fans was at the forefront of the CZW war where he shed copious amounts of blood in defense of ROH, and ultimately battled Necro Butcher in a No Rope Barbed Wire match to close out that rivalry. He battled Takeshi Morishima in his first ROH World Title defense at “5th Year Festival: Dayton”, later battled Nigel McGuinness & KENTA in a 3-way in Pro Wrestling NOAH for the ROH World Title held by Nigel, and after suffering a Spike Piledriver at the hands of The Hangmen 3 when he refused to join Sweet N Sour Inc, left ROH for good in March of 2008.
Prior to his departure, Whitmer had battled everyone to ever walk through the curtain in ROH, challenged for every title, and held the Tag Titles on 4 separate occasions. He fought Homicide in the only Fighting Spirit Match in ROH history back at “Main Event Spectacles”, defended the honor of ROH at nearly every turn, and has proven himself to be one of the toughest competitors to ever set foot in the wrestling ring.
“There is nothing I want more than to be back in Ring of Honor.” said Whitmer to ROHWrestling.com, “This is the place that really molded me as a wrestler, the place where I fought my hardest fights, and had both my biggest successes and biggest losses. The fact that ROH is having me back, putting me right into position to earn a title shot, well that means a lot to me, and I won’t disappoint.
