Lance Cade cause of death determined

0

Former WWE performer Lance McNaught (a/k/a Lance Cade) died on August 13, 2010 from accidentally ingesting multiple drugs combined with the effects of a an enlarged heart, according to an autopsy report from a medical examiner in San Antonio, Texas.

A staffer of the Bexar County, Texas, Medical Examiner’s Office said of McNaught’s death to The New Haven Register in Connecticut: “The cause was ruled mixed drug intoxication, complicating a cardiomyopathy.” His death was ruled accidental.

The medical examiner’s report does not indicate whether McNaught’s use of anabolic steroids contributed to cardiomyopathy, which has been linked to steroid abuse.

Robert Zimmerman, a spokesman for World Wrestling Entertainment, told the newspaper that WWE obtained e-mails written by McNaught to a fellow wrestler, saying he had ordered two types of steroids in March and expected to fail a drug test.

McNaught was released from WWE in October 2008, then rehired in September 2009. He was sent to drug rehabilitation at his request, but was released a second time in April.

Harvey Wippleman comments on Giant Gonzalez’s death

0

Bruno Lauer (a/k/a Harvey Wippleman), commented on the passing of friend and colleague Jorge González (a/k/a Giant González) to RasslinRiotOnline.com.

“I would like to take time here to address the passing of my dear friend Jorge Gonzales, also known as Giant Gonzalez [during his tenure with me] and El Gigante, when he was with WCW. I was Jogo’s [nickname short for his name] manager the entire time he was with the WWE and not only was I his manager, but I was his friend and confidante as well aka his errand boy! Not that I minded either…s**t if I was 8 feel tall, I’d want somebody to run out and get my food and medicine too! Jogo was always a gentleman and a true friend. He actually did something completely out of character for me one time when he was in Memphis to work a shot or 2 for USWA. He came to Walls, MS [my hometown] and visited the old Loretta’s beer joint, which has since burnt down. He came to see me just so all my friends and neighbors could have the excitement of meeting not only TV star in our little delta town, but a giant – not only physically, but in heart as well. I know he is in a better place now, so GOD bless you, my friend.”

BREAKING NEWS – Former WWF Giant Gonzalez Passes Away

0

The local media in Argentina is reporting the passing of Jorge Gonzales, who wrestled for WCW
as El Gigante before moving onto the World Wrestling Federation as Giant Gonzales. Gonzales, who was very ill with complications of diabetes and other physical issues stemming from his 7’7″ height, was 44 at the time of his death.

Gonzales was a basketball star in his native Argentina before being drafted by the Atlanta Hawks. After he failed to make his mark, Turner Broadcast shifted his contract over to World Championship Wrestling. Gigante debuted at the Capital Combat 1990 PPV, coming out during a Ric Flair vs. Lex Luger steel cage match as a surprise.

Gigante worked from 1990 through 1993 for WCW, including a house show run where he challenged then-NWA champion Ric Flair. Although at his height, there was some attention and interest in him due to his size, he was never considered a great in-ring performer and was extremely limited.

Gonzales was signed by WWF in early 1993 and debuted at the Royal Rumble that year as a massive giant (complete with airbrushed, furry body outfit), attacking and laying out The Undertaker. That set off a feud between the two that went back and forth for months, including a Wrestlemania match at Mania IX in Las Vegas.

WWF built Gonzales as a huge monster, including angles where he laid out all the major babyfaces of the era at house shows, including Randy Savage and Curt Hennig. Gonzales was managed by Harvey Whippleman during the run, where ended after a Summerslam loss to Taker in a “Rest in Peace” match. WWF set the stage for Gonzales to turn babyface but he soon left the company afterward.

Outside of the United States, Gonzales made a few appearances for both New and All Japan Pro Wrestling and appeared in a memorable episode of “Baywatch” where he played a sad, bullied giant.

After his WWF run ran its course, Gonzales returned to Argentina, where it was said he owned and ran a farm. Last year, he was scheduled to return to the United States for a convention appearance, but his health took a turn for the worse and he canceled the appearance not long after it was announced.

Trevor Murdoch Breaks His Silence on Lance Cade’s Death

0

In an exclusive interview with SLAM! Wrestling, Trevor Murdoch talks about the death of his partner and best friend, Lance Cade.

Murdoch wants everybody to share in some of his positive memories of Cade, rather than the people he dislikes for merely using the 29-year-old Cade as a political pawn during Linda McMahon’s Senate run.

“To be honest, there’s been a lot of other web pages that have called me, and I haven’t done anything with them. So whatever we do, I’d like you to put it out there to EVERYBODY,” Murdoch told SLAM! Wrestling Producer Greg Oliver. “I want everybody to read this. I want this to be what everybody reads and goes, ‘Holy shit, I didn’t know this about that situation. I didn’t know that about Lance.’

“I’m not going to talk to anybody else.”

Murdoch’s wife, Amanda, called Cade “The Other Woman” since they spent so much time together, and would call each other on days off as well, eager to discuss ideas they had for their characters.

“Ninety per cent of the time, it was just him and I,” Murdoch said. “If I got to a town before he did, I’d wait for him and we’d get a rental car. If he got there before me, I would wait for him. If he got there first, he’d wait for me. It was a strong partnership, and not just a partnership, but a friendship.”

Initially, Cade (Lance McNaught) was asked to choose between Murdoch (William Mueller), fresh from Harley Race’s wrestling school, and Kevin Thorn (Kevin Fertig), who he had known in the WWE’s developmental system.

Murdoch’s unique look (“country by nature”) appealed to Cade, and they clicked, sharing a deep passion for the business.

“WWE thought they were putting two guys together so they could make a million dollars. What they didn’t know is they were putting two guys together that became best friends. And it breaks my heart every day,” Murdoch choked out, breaking down in tears, “it’s hard to talk about it now, man.”

The call came to Murdoch on August 13, 2010. He was asleep, and was woken by his wife and bar manager, Darin Waid, with the news. In disbelief, he checked his phone and there was a text message from Shawn Michaels — who trained Cade — asking him to call.

“I called him. I said, ‘Shawn’ — I don’t cuss around Shawn, I try to be respectful — ‘what’s all this shit I hear about Lance dying?’ He said, ‘Kid, I’m sorry, but he’s gone.’”

In the hour and a half interview, Murdoch addresses far more than their partnership. He talks about his visits with Cade’s family, how his own kids — who called him Uncle Lance — are dealing with his passing, and what the funeral was like.

Murdoch doesn’t shy away from the bigger questions, either.

“I think an addiction took control of his life, and he fought that addiction, and fought that addiction, and did everything he could,” said Murdoch, who admitted they talked frequently about the problems.

“My partner’s been gone three and a half weeks now, and you’re really the first person I’ve spoken to just for the simple fact that I don’t want anybody thinking that I’m trying to capitalize on my best friend’s tragedy, and my best friend not being here,” Murdoch said. “Because I would trade anything in this world besides my wife and children to bring that man back here, and for him to be here with his kids. It is a tragedy and it is something where personally I’m struggling with Jesus right now, because I really don’t understand what the point is, taking a good man like that.”

The lengthy story is available in its entirety exclusively at SLAM! Wrestling. The article can be read here.

CCB – The Self-Destruction of Matt Hardy

0

By Eric Gargiulo of CamelClutchBlog.com

After being sent home by the WWE from England, Matt Hardy has gone on a Twitter and You Tube campaign to bury the WWE and essentially get himself fired. The impending separation between the WWE and Matt Hardy makes Mel and Oksana look like a fairy tale.

It all started last week when the WWE sent Matt Hardy home from the England tour. There are lots of rumors and speculation as to why Matt was sent home, but let’s just say that the fact the WWE revised its drug policy a few days later is probably not a coincidence. Matt Hardy never one to keep his mouth shut, immediately started a viral campaign on You Tube and recorded one of the most bizarre videos that you will ever see.

In his video, Matt Hardy denies being sent home from England. Matt takes his video camera and shows viewers that he is still in England, criticizes “dirt sheets” (for a guy so innovative, someone should tell him that dirt sheets went away with the 12” cell phone), the Pro Wrestling Torch website, said that all of the news was false and even hinted at CM Punk being the one who leaked the information. It doesn’t take a doctor to notice that Matt does not look well in the video, especially towards the very end. As bizarre as the video was itself, even more bizarre is the WWE confirming that Matt was indeed sent home to Newsday, thus making the video even more strange.

CM Punk & His Diva Girlfriend Pushed For Another WWE Star To Be Fired

0

WrestlingNewsWorld.com is reporting that CM Punk has admitted to some people privately that he had pushed for WWE to release Serena from her contract last month.

Apparently, Punk was extremely upset Serena would not at least maintain the illusion in public that she was straight-edge, as Punk takes his own straight-edge lifestyle very seriously.

WWE officials spoke to her and had given her warnings on more than one occasion regarding her behavior after shows, but Punk going to them was the final straw.

There is also a rumor going around the locker room that Punk is in a relationship with WWE Diva Beth Phoenix and apparently, Phoenix was not to fond of Punk working so close with other another woman.

WWE Creative told not to book Matt Hardy

0

It’s believed that WWE officials held a conference call earlier this afternoon to discuss Matt Hardy’s future with the company. No word yet on what happened.

The feeling is that WWE will keep Hardy on the roster as long as he agrees to some rules and stipulations from the company. Word is that a lot of people backstage are upset with Hardy’s recent actions and some talent want him to be released, or at least think he should be released.

WWE creative has apparently been told that Hardy would not be booked in the foreseeable future.

Matt Hardy on thin ice with WWE

0

Matt Hardy is not backstage at today’s SmackDown television taping in Detroit, Michigan. He was sent home by World Wrestling Entertainment officials after an incident backstage during Saturday’s SmackDown live event in Minehead, England.

Regarding the possibility of WWE cutting ties with Hardy altogether, he is “on very thin ice,” according to a report on www.f4wonline.com.

It is said that Hardy’s saving grace from termination was WWE’s fear of a Hardy Boys revival in rival promotion TNA Wrestling, but after Saturday’s backstage incident weekend and subsequent video blog, the feeling is that they don’t care much about keeping him under their auspices anymore.

Despite Hardy’s claim that he wasn’t taken off the road, a company spokesman confirmed the story to Newsday today.

WWE officials are aware of Matt Hardy’s recent video blog on the reports of him being sent home and are not happy about it. You may have seen in the video where Hardy blamed a “stooging punk” for the news being leaked on the internet. Sources believe that Hardy’s “stooging punk” comment was directed at CM Punk, who he does not get along with.

One of the main people who have been riding Hardy about his physique as of late is SmackDown writer Michael Hayes.

As noted before, Hardy was not at SmackDown earlier this afternoon and WWE has confirmed that he was sent home from two recent shows.

In light of World Wrestling Entertainment’s confirmation to Newsday that Matt Hardy was pulled from two recent live events, the SmackDown Superstar issued the following statement this evening on his Twitter account:

“Here’s a quick hello to all my people & a reassurance to everyone that I’m fine, healthy, & in good spirits. Thx for all of your support.

“When the time is right, I’ll put everything out there as far as what “really” went down. I know I have to protect me & my brand, & I will.

“I appreciate my fans so much that I’ll always be honest with them, & the whole story certainly isn’t out there now.

“I appreciate all of the things the WWE has done 4 me in the past, they have been gracious to me-but now, it’s decision time for me. Thx all.”
