We are extremely saddened to report that WWE legend The Ultimate Warrior (AKA Jim Hellwig) has passed away at the age of 54. Warrior just the headlined the WWE Hall of Fame this past weekend and even appeared on last night’s Monday Night RAW. During his Hall of Fame speech this past Saturday, Warrior confirmed that he had signed a Legends contract with the WWE to be a brand ambassador for the company.
TMZ is reporting that Warrior passed away in a hotel parking lot in Arizona. They posted:
“Officials tell TMZ … Warrior collapsed outside an Arizona hotel at 5:50 PM on April 8th … while walking to his car with his wife. Warrior was transported to a nearby hospital … where he was pronounced dead.”
The preliminary cause of death is being listed as natural causes pending the results of an autopsy to be performed today. There are no additional details available at this time.
WWE.com has confirmed the news, by stating:
“WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior. Warrior began his WWE career in 1987 and quickly went on to become one of the biggest stars in WWE history. Warrior became WWE Champion at WrestleMania VI, defeating Hulk Hogan in an epic encounter. We are grateful that just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was also able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans. WWE sends its sincere condolences to Warrior’s family, friends and fans. Warrior was 54 and is survived by his wife Dana and his two daughters.”

Triple H first tweeted out the news of Warrior’s passing. He tweeted:
Saddened to announce the passing of the Ultimate Warrior. Icon and friend. My sympathy to his wife Dana and his daughters

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon also commented on Warrior’s passing:
We are all so sad that the Ultimate Warrior has passed away. Our heart is with his wife Dana and his two daughters.

UPDATE 4/9 @ 12:02pm ET: TMZ reports that The Ultimate Warrior was seen clutching his chest moments before he collapsed outside of an Arizona hotel on Tuesday, according to their law enforcement sources who spoke with eye witnesses.
They report that Warrior was walking down a hallway at the Gainey Suites Hotel in Scottsdale, AZ, headed toward his car with his wife, when he stopped, clutched his chest and went down. He never recovered.
Sources told TMZ that officials believe Warrior suffered a “catastrophic medical event” and so far, there is no evidence to show drugs or alcohol were a factor in his death. All signs point to massive heart attack. An investigation is underway and an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
UPDATE 4/9 @ 2:37pm ET:
TMZ spoke to people that were with The Ultimate Warrior during WrestleMania weekend in New Orleans and they note that he looked to be in rough shape all weekend.
They noted that he appeared to be in constant pain, sweaty and looked very uncomfortable. It was apparent to the people around him that something was seriously off. People also took notice when Warrior looked weak after doing his signature rope shake on RAW.
One of their sources said, “We all felt like he looked like he was going to blow a gasket. It was pretty easy to see.”
UPDATE 4/9 @ 3:27pm ET:
TMZ is reporting that the Ultimate Warrior’s preliminary cause of death has been determined to be a massive heart attack. Autopsy and toxicology tests are yet to be completed and are expected to confirm this.
