Legendary WWE star says The Undertaker should retire

The Undertaker’s decades-long unbeaten WrestleMania run is dead, but is his in-ring career dead? Will the legendary grappler live on to fight another day after losing to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX? WWE Hall of Famer and former rival “Stone Cold” Steve Austin believes he should hang up boots once and for all.

“The Rattlesnake” weighed in on The Undertaker’s wrestling future during a recent media interview, where he strongly urged his longtime peer to retire.

“I know other people think it’d be cool to do The Undertaker vs. Sting next year and then for ‘Taker to bow out in front of 100,000 fans in 2016. But, to me, I think [his match with Brock Lesnar] really should be the last ride,” Austin said to Power Slam.

“If The Undertaker is back in a few years’ time, doing even tag matches at WrestleMania, I’ll take a shovel to his head — for real this time. The man has done enough. It’s time. It happens to us all, believe me: I’m 49-years-old, and my last match was a long time ago. Enough is enough.”

Austin, however, did clarify that he is a fan of The Undertaker’s recent work. The interview was conducted just prior to WrestleMania XXX, where he stated that his tangle with Lesnar was the match he was most looking forward to.

“I look forward to every match The Undertaker does. I’ve known the guy, worked with the guy for so long, I’ve been a fan of the gimmick, his work for so long: I got goosebumps when he made his entrance on Raw to start this angle off. This is going to be a hell of a match too. ‘Taker always leaves it all in the ring,” said Austin.
